Introduced in 1949 as a 1500 horsepower freight hauler, the EMD F7 was adopted to passenger service as well. Both A & B units were built. Nearly 4000 A & B units were built by the time production ceased in 1953. The F7's were the most successful of the F units, outselling all others combined. Many remained in service for decades. Even today, there are examples of these locomotives still in service. These Canadian National units feature a modified Black/Red/White/Yellow paint scheme. The stripes on the left lean forward at 45 degrees, while those on the right lean backwards. The stripes end at the back of the cab doors, with the nose being red with a black patch in front of the windshield.
